Employee Benefits Information

For specific employee/employer benefit contributions, please reference the applicable MOU, contract, or resolution.

  • 9/80 City work schedule: 9 hour days Monday through Thursday, 8 hours 1 Friday, off the next Friday.
  • Paid time off (PTO): Full-time benefited employees accrue 176 hours of paid time off (PTO) per year.
  • Administrative leave: Exempt (salaried) positions receive a set amount of administrative leave each July 1.
  • 13 paid holidays
  • CalPERS Health Insurance: Comprehensive HMO and PPO plan options are available. A cash in-lieu of health insurance option is also available.
  • Ameritas Dental Insurance: Comprehensive in and out of network plan options are available. A cash in-lieu of dental insurance option is also available.
  • Life insurance and long-term disability: The City provides life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance and long-term disability benefits.
  • Retirement:
    • California Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) Defined Benefit Retirement Plan: 2% at 60 formula for "Classic Members" or 2% at 62 formula for "New Members."
    • ICMA Deferred Compensation Plan: voluntary and 100% paid for by the employee unless stated otherwise in an MOU, contract, or resolution.
    • Full-time and part-time benefited employees do not contribute to Social Security.
    • All employees pay 1.45% Medicare tax.
