Recreation Trips & Programs

  1. Richmond of World War II with Gary Holloway

    April 26, 2018, 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM

The City of Saratoga Recreation Department Great Getaways Program offers trips for all ages, except where noted. Our newest National Park in the Bay Area is along the City of Richmond waterfront, and focuses on the role of women in the Second World War. Our day trip will commence at the Visitor Center, where we will view exhibits and watch a video of the area. Following this, we will drive around various components of the Park spread along the Richmond waterfront. Highlights will include an outline of a Victory ship and a fabulous Ford auto assembly plant, converted to make Jeeps during the War. Lunch will be at the nearby Hotel MacDonald, located on the Plaza at Point Richmond. In the afternoon, we will visit the old 1910 Carnegie Library, now the Richmond Museum of History.
