The City will be holding a second public meeting on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 6:00 pm to solicit input from residents and businesses on the next phase of the Village Pedestrian Enhancement Project. The meeting will be held in the Administrative Conference Room at City Hall - 13777 Fruitvale Avenue

There is a change to the plan - the median at 4th Street has been removed from the project
The City received a Pedestrian Enhancement Grant from the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority to improve patron safety along Big Basin Way while taking into account the unique and historic environment of the Village. Primarily, work will be focused on pedestrian safety improvements and beautification of the Village. This is the first in a series of meetings where members of the public will get to share their thoughts on improvements to the Village streetscape.
Some of the planned improvements include:
- Sidewalk improvements
- Pedestrian bulb outs
- Crosswalk lights in the pavement
- Landscaping
- Hanging plant baskets (on the light poles)
- Irrigation
- Lighting
- Streetscape furniture
Gates & Associates was awarded the design contract during a City Council Meeting on August 6, 2008. THe decision came after the Village Ad Hoc reviewed proposals submitted in response to the City's RFP for design services and interviewed of the top candidates. The City Council reviewed the conceptual design plan for the Village Streetscape Project on April 1, 2009.
