About Council Member Kumar:
Council Member Kumar’s top priorities are to enhance Saratoga's quality of life, nurture a thriving family oriented community and is a committed advocate of every resident of Saratoga.

Council Member Kumar is a former Saratoga Planning Commissioner. He works full-time in the Silicon Valley hi-tech industry, and is a former IBM veteran. He holds a B.S. in Production Engineering from The University of Bombay and a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Connecticut (he loves college hoops and UCONN!). Councilmember Kumar moved to Silicon Valley in 2001 from Michigan with his wife Seema and found a home in Saratoga with their two sons

Council Member Kumar loves Saratoga and has a passion for community service and volunteering ever since he moved into Saratoga, applying the hi-tech innovation to public service in providing services cheaper, faster and better. He is passionate about keeping Saratogans informed and connected about Saratoga happenings. He currently runs Safe Saratoga Citizens Committee, Saratoga Water Committee, Saratoga STEM programs and many other efforts. His past community volunteer record includes: Board member of AYSO Soccer, along with Saratoga Chamber, Saratoga Boy Scout, Saratoga Coders Club, Saratoga Lego Robotics Club. Rishi continues hosting a monthly Saratoga Open Mic (since 2011), and in the past, he has also chaired "Saratoga Cares Foundation", and ran the annual “Saratoga’s got Talent" raising funds for the Saratoga Senior Center.
