Council Member Manny Cappello was appointed to a two-year term on the Saratoga City Council in 2010 by his fellow City Council Members. He was then elected to a four-year term on the City Council by voters in 2012 and reelected in 2016. Council Member Cappello served on the Saratoga Planning Commission from 2005 to 2010 and served as Mayor in 2016 and 2019. Council Member Cappello is the current Board of Directors Chair of the West Valley Sanitation District and is President of the Santa Clara County Cities Association.
Council Member Cappello attended Cal Poly State University-San Luis Obispo, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He then received his Master of Business Administration from Golden Gate University in San Francisco. Council Member Cappello has worked for Lockheed Martin and Applied Materials, and owned and operated three restaurants for six years. He is currently a tenured track faculty at West Valley College and Director of the West Valley College Entrepreneurship Center.
Council Member Cappello moved to Saratoga in 1992 and has been a community volunteer for more than 20 years. He was a board member and head league commissioner for a local soccer league and launched two USTA sanctioned youth tennis tournaments in Saratoga. He has two adult children, a daughter who lives in San Jose and a son who lives in Campbell.
