Weekend Storm Updates

A flood watch has been issued for the entire Bay Area from late Friday through Monday afternoon as storms move through the area this weekend. Soils remain saturated, so flooding concerns continue. There will also be dangerous surf conditions along the coast through Saturday. Stay safe! Follow the tips below and visit www.PrepareSCC.org/Flood for more information and updates.

Sign up to receive emergency alerts and notifications from AlertSCC, the County of Santa Clara’s official emergency alert and warning system. It’s free and available to anyone! Go to www.AlertSCC.org to sign up.

If you need sandbags, a free 24-hour station is available outside of the City’s Corporation Yard at 19700 Allendale Avenue. Bags, sand, sandbag fillers, and shovels are available. There is a 25-bag limit per household.

Do not walk, swim, or drive through flooded areas. Six inches of water will reach the bottom of most passenger cars causing loss of control and possible stalling. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize flood dangers.

Call the following numbers to report hazards on roads and public property:

  • Emergencies: 9-1-1
  • Weekdays from 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM: 408.868.1245
  • Weeknights after 3:30 PM and Weekends: 408.299.2507

If you encounter a downed power line, always assume it is live. Do not touch the power line or anything it touches, and do not drive over it. Leave the area immediately and report downed power lines to 9-1-1 and PG&E at 1.800.743.5002

If you are without power, check PG&E's live outage map for updates at www.pge.com/outage
