2023 Courage in Leadership Award
Saratoga residents have until August 27 to submit their nominations for the 2023 Courage in Leadership Award. Nominee must be a current Saratoga resident who has demonstrated extraordinary courage; leadership, as defined by the art of inspiring change through authentic, emotional connection even when you don’t have a leadership role; compassion; and resilience in taking an important stand and/or overcoming an extraordinary challenge. State of the City
You're invited to the Saratoga State of the City on Saturday, September 9, at 6:00 p.m. in beautiful Wildwood Park. This won't be your ordinary State of the City, so you don’t want to miss it! Free commemorative t-shirts will be available while supplies last. After enjoying lawn games and refreshments, hear important updates about our wonderful City. House Family Vineyards Public Hearing: September 6, 2023
On September 6, 2023, at 7:00 p.m., the City Council is scheduled to consider a request from House Family Vineyards to extend the Temporary Compliance Plan. The City Council approved the Temporary Compliance Plan in October 2022, allowing limited operations through September 30, 2023. Saratoga Loves Poetry
Students in grades kindergarten through 12 who live or attend school in Saratoga are invited to participate in the Saratoga Loves Poetry contest! Winners in each age category will be selected to receive prizes and have their poems showcased by the City in November. Submissions are due October 1. The City launched its new website this week. The new site features a clean, modern design as well as an enhanced search tool, improved navigation, and chatbot that utilizes artificial intelligence to provide visitors with 24/7 support to locate information on the website and access services. Pierce Road Evacuation Route Hardening Project
The Santa Clara County Fire Vasona Fuels Crew started an evacuation route hardening project on Pierce Road between Mt. Eden Road and Highway 9 on August 15. Work will include the removal of shrubs and ground fuels as well as lower-hanging tree branches. Work will take place between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday until September 7.
Annual Gun Relinquishment Program
Starting on Monday, August 21st, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting the Annual Gun Relinquishment Program. A $50 gift card (5 maximum) will be given for each firearm relinquished. Visit the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office website for more information.
Santa Clara County Community Wildfire Preparedness Meeting
Participate in the Santa Clara County Community Wildfire Protection Plan public outreach meeting on August 30 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., in person at the Los Gatos Lodge, 50 Saratoga-Los Gatos Road, Los Gatos, CA, and on Zoom. The CWPP aims to further wildfire preparedness initiatives throughout the county and provide support for residents seeking resources to be better prepared for wildfire. Roof & Window Replacement Rebates
Roofs and windows are two of the most vulnerable parts of a structure during a wildfire. Saratoga Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) property owners that install a Class A roof and multi-pane, tempered glass windows are eligible for rebates of up to $10,000. Firewise Communities
Work with your neighbors to reduce wildfire risk for the entire community by becoming a Firewise Community. Some insurance providers offer special discounts to Firewise Communities. Free coaching from the Santa Clara County FireSafe Council is available to neighborhoods interested in earning the Firewise Community designation. Learn more at www.saratoga.ca.us/fire
Fall Chipping for Wildland Urban Interface
